Public Domain epub eBook Collections

Posted on May 11, 2010October 17, 2022 by David Barker

After I picked up my Kobo eReader, the first thing I did was go to the Gutenberg Library and download some novels in the epub format. The problem is: it takes a while to sift through all their titles. So … as a convenience to my readers, if you’d like to save yourself some time, I’ve lumped together some small collections from Gutenberg. Just click on the links to download relatively small zip files.

Fiction – 48 novels by well-known dead people.

Poetry – Anthologies of Burns, Shelley, Keats, Whitman, Service & Yeats

Non-fiction – Abbott’s Flatland, Boswell’s Life of Samuel Johnson, essays by G.K. Chesterton and Mencken, Darwin’s Voyage of the Beagle, Pepys diaries, Tocqueville, Wilde’s De Profundis.

Philosophy – Aristotle, Emerson, Hobbes, Hume, Kant, Marcus Aurelius, J.S. Mill, More’s Utopia, Plato, Rousseau’s Confessions, Smith’s Wealth of Nations, Thoreau’s Walden, Thucydides (Okay, it’s history, but close enough).

Religion – A bunch of Bibles, Aquinas, James’ Varieties of Religious Experience, Underhill’s Practical Mysticism.

Sci-fi – 39 Novels & Stories by Cory Doctorow, Murray Leinster, and Stephen Marlowe (aka Ellery Queen).
