Arm The Lorax

Posted on November 12, 2010October 17, 2022 by David Barker
Arm The Lorax: Graffiti on garbage can beside the Eramosa River, Guelph, Ontario

I took this image by the Eramosa River in Guelph, Ontario. Remember the Lorax? It’s Dr. Seuss. Remember how the Lorax speaks for the trees? But I bet you didn’t know that the Lorax has gone corporate. A Canadian environmental consulting company has appropriated the name, Lorax, and all the warm fuzzy associations that go with it, so that it can “provide the highest quality services in the most cost-effective and timely manner and, where appropriate, implement innovative techniques and approaches to address the environmental issues faced by [its] clients”. Ah, the delight of corporate-speak in all its euphemistic glory. No wonder people think it might be a good idea to arm the Lorax.
