I’m not a trainspotter. I don’t know why people do it. But photographically speaking, a train can be an interesting subject or piece of background. I’ve noticed a pattern in my own shooting: trains pop up all over the place, so I offer some samples here. For my money, the 5th image is the oddest.
The first is a Go Train passing over the Don River.
I caught the TTC taking delivery of a new streetcar on a flatbed rail car.
Morning Commute: a Go Train approaches the footbridge that joins Riverdale East & West Parks.
30 second exposure of subway trains entering and exiting Bloor Station at night.
Go Train passing on the Lower Don River. What’s odd about this shot is that in the foreground is a BMX dirt jump. I had no idea that such a thing existed here. It looks to me like a bunch of guys showed up under the cover of trees with shovels and wheelbarrows and decided to make something for themselves when no one was looking. I could be wrong. It could be entirely legit.
