For the 4th of my themed Scottish posts, I move west to Glasgow. If Edinburgh is “high”, Glasgow is “low”. If Edinburgh is art, Glasgow is graffiti. If Edinburgh is culture and politics, Glasgow is industry and commerce. You probably see a pattern by now. I suspect these comparisons are rooted less in reality than in longstanding rivalry. Nevertheless, there’s something about Glasgow that has gotten under my skin. I love it there. It’s more honest, maybe because it doesn’t pander to tourists in the way that Edinburgh does.
